When Net Worth Is Worthless
James 5:1-6
James has already mentioned the rich on three other occasions (1:9-11; 2:2-3; 6). Here James seems to be addressing wealthy individuals outside of the church. No doubt some of these people were abusing members of the church, while at the same time claiming some relationship with God through their friendship. The uncontrolled desire for wealth is the target of James’ sweeping statements. Like Paul (1 Timothy 6;10), he sees the danger, not in wealth, but in so loving wealth that it blots out love for God and others.
Meals Team – Help & Support for Our Church Family: Our Meals Team is seeking individuals who would like to help care for others through meals. You can serve by making homemade meals, sending meals through DoorDash or pizza delivery, or delivering meals to families in need. Every role makes a difference! We also want our church family to be aware that this team is here to support you. If you are facing a season of need—after surgery, during illness, following a loss, or while celebrating the birth of a new baby—the Meals Team would love to come alongside you with care and nourishment.
