Missionary Update – Brent Dodd
Greetings from the Sierra Madre Mountains of Mexico.
Cataract Surgery Eye Clinic:
This week Hospital Misión Tarahumara is putting on a cataract eye surgery clinic. A team of surgeons have flown in from the USA and will be busy removing cataracts Monday and Tuesday of this week. Please pray for strength and stamina for the surgeons as they put in some long days. Please pray all the equipment will work properly. Please pray for the cooks in the hospital kitchen as they prepare food for the patients and guardians. Please pray each eye surgery will be successful without any infection. Praise the Lord that the hospital has a new solar system that is providing clean reliable power.
Air Transport Of Eye Patients and Guardians:
UIM Aviation is providing two turbo Cessna 206s to transport patients and guardians from two remote locations. Our newest pilot in training will be assisting me in transporting the patients and guardians to the hospital. One location has 28 passengers to move and the other has 7. Please pray for good weather. Please pray for safety in flight. Please pray the aircraft will function properly without any mechanical problems. For many of the passengers, this will be their first time flying in a small airplane.
Physical Blindness and Spiritual Blindness:
Many of these elderly people have not been able to see well and function on their own for quite some time. Many will have a walking stick and need help from a family member to walk to the airplane to get aboard. What a joy it is, once they have had their cataracts removed, they are able to walk away for the airplane on their own. Many also are still living is spiritual darkness. Please pray for Pastor Jacob and Abram, the hospital chaplain, as they have opportunity to share the Good News of the gospel to the patients and guardians as they wait for their turn in surgery.
Thank-you for being our prayer warriors.
Blessings,
Brent, Hollie Mae and Brielle Dodd
