Devotional from Jon Sorenson
Judges 6:15-16 NIV “Pardon me, my Lord,” Gideon replied, “but how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family.” The Lord answered, “I will be with you, and you will strike down all the Midianites, leaving none alive.”
Gideon’s story: What do you do when you feel unprepared?
In Judges 6, God calls a man named Gideon to save Israel from the Midianites. Gideon was terrified – he felt unprepared, underqualified, and ill-equipped. However, God reassured Gideon that he would be with him and showed that faithfulness is more important than self-assurance.
Gideon’s faith grew, and with only 300 men, he achieved an incredible victory against the Midianites, proving that God can do great things with even the most uncertain individuals. This story teaches us the power of faith and trusting in God’s plan, even when we feel unprepared.
When faced with self-doubt, remember that God values our faithfulness and commitment, not just our confidence. Like Gideon, who felt ill-equipped but was still chosen by God, we can rely on God’s support even in our doubts. Through prayer, we can overcome self-doubt and trust in God’s amazing plan for us. With God by our side, we can conquer any challenges that come our way.
